Welcome Home was the debut exhibition at The Danish Architecture Center’s new exhibition space in BLOX in Copenhagen. The exhibition unfolds the concept of a good home, neighborhood, and city, and explores the evolution and future of these ideals.
Yoke and DAC have collaborated to create an engaging experience where visitors envision their dream homes and witness them becoming part of a dynamic digital city. Visitors interact with stations throughout the exhibition, shaping their ideal living environment by answering questions. Each visitor receives a personalized card representing their new home, based on their preferences and choices.
At each station, visitors use custom-built card readers and unique physical elements like buttons, sliders, and knobs to express their preferences. The answers are linked to individual cards, and at the final station, visitors' homes are integrated into a virtual city.
The exhibition goes beyond traditional housing options, presenting alternatives like eco-friendly bioclimatic houses in the countryside or micro-apartments in the city center. These choices reflect emerging considerations of demographics, climate, and technology.
The virtual city layout follows dynamic zoning rules, ensuring appropriate spacing around each house. As each visitor's home is added, the city evolves, creating a constantly changing urban landscape.
Upon concluding the experience, visitors receive a printed "deed" for their home at the station.
"Welcome Home" invites visitors on an immersive journey to explore the future of living, encouraging them to imagine their ideal homes and envision the evolving city landscapes to come.
The overall exhibition is conceived and designed by DAC, with the interactive track and installations designed, built and programmed, and installed by YOKE.
