In “Holstebro Through Fire and Water”, visitors are invited to step into the dramatic history of a Danish town that has been repeatedly shaped by the forces of nature. From roaring fires that reduced entire streets to ashes, to floods that swallowed homes, Holstebro’s story is one of both devastation and determination.
The exhibition combines scenographic environments, historical artefacts, archaeological findings and digital installations to immerse visitors an interesting story of how Holstebro as changed over time. You can wander through spaces that recreate the chaos of a great fire, feel the impact of rising water levels, and explore how communities rebuild in the wake of disaster. By connecting past catastrophes to present-day climate challenges, the exhibition offers both a historical perspective and a reflection on our shared future.
Yoke was responsible for the full concept development, spatial and exhibition design, and all digital experiences. Our work spanned the creation of the overall narrative, visual identity, and visitor flow, to producing interactive installations, films, and graphic elements that bring the stories to life. The result is a coherent, sensory-rich journey that captures the drama of the past while inspiring conversations about resilience and adaptation today.
